Pouyan Harbi – Continuous Improvement Manager
“We have to find right balance within the different functions of our company, to meet our commitments to our customers” says Prysmian Australia’s OTD man, Pouyan Harbi. As a part of the Production Planning team for the past 4 years, Pouyan has been the interface between Production and Sales, helping to manage the finite capacities of our Liverpool site. This site is the only cable manufacturing facility in Australia that produces a diverse range cable products, from bare conductors, building wiring cables, LV and MV to many more specialised applications including mining and fire-resistance.
Successfully aligning the factory’s output with the market’s ever-changing needs is no simple feat, but Pouyan conferred that doing so is essential to honour the service commitments we make to our customers, “customer requirement is the centre of our attention, and Prysmian’s market position is largely built on the loyalty of our customers. Manufacturing locally helps us to react to our customer’s requirements in a prompt manner… the long-term supply contracts we have with power utilities, large infrastructure and commercial projects and wholesalers, is the reward of our consistently superior service and delivery performance.”
As a strong believer in being proactive to improve and grow, Pouyan shared that being a part of a big company can mean more challenges, but also more opportunities, “being part of a truly global company like Prysmian, means that real career development opportunities, which may not be available in a smaller business, are obtainable...”
Recently presented with a new job opportunity himself, Pouyan will use the skills and experience he has gained to fill the position of Continuous Improvement Manager. Within the Prysmian Australia Logistics function, his new post will require him to assess aspects of our business and identify areas of development, then plan and implement improvement strategies. For example, improving OTD for customers, or reducing cost by analysing areas of high spend.
We thank Pouyan for all his hard work and dedication, and wish him good luck within his new role!
